Former English cricketer Owais Shah doesn’t have a lot of confidence about England’s chances in the upcoming Test series in India as he predicted a 2-1 result in favor of the hosts. England, who have already arrived in India, will be locking horns with India for 4 Tests, 5 T20 internationals, and 3 ODIs in Chennai and Ahmedabad from February 5 to March 28. The hosts are heading into the series after defeating Australia 2-1 at their home under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane.

The hosts will be back to full strength against England with the return of captain Virat Kohli and other senior players like Ishant Sharma, Hardik Pandya while the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja are also expected to get back to full fitness before the series begins.

Talking about the same during a chat with Sports Today, Owais Shah said, “I don’t think we have the bowlers to do the business in India, unfortunately, this time. I think it might be 2-1 to India.”

Meanwhile, England also managed to pull off a whitewash in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka earlier this month, winning 2-0 but Owais Shah, who played 6 Tests for England, still feels the visitors don’t have enough strength in their bowling attack to challenge India in their own den.

Elaborating the same, Shah said, “England will get a lot of confidence from what they did in Sri Lanka. It was challenging conditions and the way England came out on top was pretty impressive. I don’t think the bowlers, the two spinners Dom Bess and Jack Leach, probably didn’t bowl their best but they still managed to win the Tests. But I think the spin bowling department will really be tested against the strong batting lineup of India.”
