The veteran Indian spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin had quite the match in India’s second Test against England. Apart from taking eight wickets in the game, he also amassed his fifth Test century. Another battle that Ashwin won in the match was that against England’s flamboyant, all-rounder Ben Stokes. Having kept Steven Smith quiet in Australia – Ashwin dismissed him thrice in the four-match series – the off-spinner was too hot to handle for Stokes at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Ahead of the second Test in Chennai, Ravichandran Ashwin had dismissed Ben Stokes eight times in nine matches and after his dismissal of Tuesday, the tally became 10 times out of 10, having dismissed him in both innings. Having castled Stokes with a peach of a delivery in England’s first innings, the Indian spinner managed to deceive the southpaw with the ball going straight and take an inside edge off Stokes’ bat onto his pad and straight to a diving Virat Kohli at second slip.
