Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be commencing their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 campaign on Monday against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium. PBKS have been one of the most underperforming teams in recent years as they reached the playoffs last time in 2014.

Last season, inconsistency cost them big as they missed the qualification chance by a very less margin as they finished at the sixth spot after their rollercoaster run. Under the captaincy of KL Rahul, the Punjab-based franchise managed to register five straight victories midway through IPL 2020 but defeats in their last two league matches barred them to qualify for the playoffs.

PBKS has managed to assemble a strong squad and is really capable of going far in the tournament. The team boasts the likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle, Mohammed Shami, Jhye Richardson in their ranks. They are definitely one of the favorites to win the title this year.

As PBKS gear up to kickstart their campaign in IPL 2021, their batting coach Wasim Jaffer has revealed his wish for the season. The former India opener, on Monday, took to Twitter to share an old tweet from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to post his message. The tweet was from 2014 when Salman had asked if the team co-owned by actress Preity Zinta had won a game.

Sharing a picture of the tweet, Jaffer had tweeted: “Our campaign starts today. My only wish is that I get to quote tweet this Salman Khan tweet with ‘Yes’ more often this season ”

Meanwhile, IPL 2021 commenced on Friday with the game between defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). RCB had won the contest by a couple of wickets. In the second match, Delhi Capitals had crushed Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets while chasing 189. In the third game on Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 10 runs.
