Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), looked disappointed after his team’s performance against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the fifth match of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL). On Tuesday, Eoin Morgan and Co suffered a demoralizing loss against MI by 10 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. It was also KKR’s 12th defeat against the Mumbai-based franchise in their last 13 meetings.

Shah Rukh didn’t seem pleased with KKR’s performance in Chennai. The veteran Bollywood actor took to Twitter and wrote, “Disappointing performance, to say the least. @KKRiders apologies to all the fans.”

Andre Russell spoke at a press conference after the match and reacted to the tweet saying, “Yeah, I support that Tweet but at the end of the day the game of cricket… you are not sure until it’s over. I think we are still confident, we still played some good cricket and I am proud of the boys. It was a bit difficult to hit at the end. The guys were bowling cutters, and they were bowling into the wicket. But at the end of the day, we are professionals. We should have crossed the line tonight.”

Russell further explained, “We know what we can do, and I know what I can do. Unfortunately good finishers like me and DK, we didn’t get bat to ball. We are going to go back to the drawing board. We have been playing some good cricket. It is just about moving from this game and going from strength to strength.”

KKR will now be locking horns with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on the 18th of April.
