England’s flamboyant wicket-keeper Jos Buttler has been signed by Sydney Thunders for the seventh edition of Australia’s Big Bash League. He is Thunders’ third pick of this season along with Kiwi lad Mitchell McClenaghan and Aussie Callum Ferguson.

Buttler is a hot property in the limited over cricket. He plays in several T20 leagues around the world and currently playing in Bangladesh Premier League. He holds England record for the fastest One-Day century and featuring several times in this very same list.

Meanwhile, the-27-year-old will be available for the first six games of the league before joining the national team for the limited-over series Down Under. He expressed his excitement for working with Michael Hussey in the Thunders, who is directing cricket for the franchise.

“I’m delighted to be part of Thunder and get stuck in, Mike Hussey is someone I’ve really admired and I’m really excited to meet him. Eoin Morgan is a good friend, he had two seasons with the club and he spoke really highly of everyone and said I’d have a brilliant time. I’m excited to get stuck in and make some friendships. One of the great things about these tournaments is meeting new players and learning from guys and creating friendships all over the world,” said Buttler.

The dynamic batsman has experience in playing this league. He was a part of Melbourne Renegades for five games in 2013-14. “I’m really excited. I’ve played in the BBL once before, ahead of England’s last ODI tour to Australia,” he added.

“I’ve watched the competition go from strength to strength to become one of the best competitions in the world. The crowds are fantastic and there’s a big family emphasis which creates a great atmosphere.”

The tournament will begin with a Sydney derby on December 19. Thunders will try to replicate on their title-winning campaign in 2015-16.
