On Wednesday, Head Coach of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Stephen Fleming has said that he had spoken to MS Dhoni and they are providing their captain all the needed support after the news came that his parents have tested positive for the global pandemic novel COVID-19.
However, the parents of MS Dhoni, Devaki Devi and Pan Singh were admitted to a private hospital in Ranchi after they have tested positive for COVID-19. The hospital further shared on Wednesday that their oxygen levels were stable as well. Meanwhile, Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings to an 18-run win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Mumbai on Wednesday. With this win, CSK jumped to the top of the points table of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Fleming, while speaking after CSK’s win, said: “Not a lot of talk about this (Dhoni’s family) between the players. But from the management’s point of view, we are well aware of his family’s situation. Support has been set up for his family.”
“I had a talk with MS and the situation is under control for now. We will monitor the situation for the next few days. It is a tough time for everybody, especially in India at the moment. We are spending quite a lot of time talking about care in the wider group of friends and family. We have that responsibility to ensure MS has the support that he needs. We hope his family recovers quickly,” he again shared.
It was CSK’s third successive win in IPL 2021 and it seems they have found their form after having a poor run in the UAE last year as well. Against KKR, MS Dhoni promoted himself to bat at No. 4 and scored 17 as CSK put up a huge total of 220. But it was Faf du Plessis who stole the show with an unbeaten 95 whereas young opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a 42-ball 64.

KKR faced early hiccups as Deepak Chahar picked up 4 wickets, reducing the two-time champions to 31 for 5 as well. Later, Andre Russell (22-ball 54), Dinesh Karthik (24-ball 40) and Pat Cummins (34-ball 66 not out) tried their best but KKR failed to win. Meanwhile, CSK will next take on Royal Challengers Bangalore on Sunday in Mumbai.
