Mumbai Indians Ropes In Scott Kuggeleijn As Reserve Player

There is delightful news for the Mumbai Indians (MI) fan, as the New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn has joined the franchise as a reserve player. His fellow New Zealand cricketer, James Neesham, who is also with the Mumbai Indians (MI) posted an Instagram story that confirms the same. Neesham posted a story where Kuggeleijn can be seen playing a game of snooker.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently in the city of Delhi, where they will be playing their next games of the season.

Scott Kuggeleijn has earlier played in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the year 2019, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad. He was a part of the CSK playing XI in 2 matches in the 12th edition of the IPL. Kuggeleijn is yet to score a run in IPL cricket. He has taken a couple of wickets with the ball in his IPL career.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have had a decent outing in the 2021 IPL campaign. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, they have suffered 3 losses in the 5 matches they have played so far in the tournament, and are now occupying 4th place in the points table. The five-time IPL champions have also lost the last 2 matches that they have played.

In their previous IPL encounter against the Punjab Kings (PBKS), MI fell short in every department of the game as they only managed to reach the score of 131/6 on the board. In reply, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered a dominating 9-wicket win. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle were the architects of Punjab’s victory with the bat in hand. While Rahul scored 60*, Gayle scored a handy 43*.

Scott Kuggeleijn has also played 16 T20I for New Zealand in which he has scored 79 runs at an average of 19.75 and at a strike rate of 213.51. The Mumbai Indians will next take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 29th April 2021 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
