While the number of positive COVID-19 cases have been increasing day by day in India, they have been hosting the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) across six venues. However, many countries have banned flights from India which also included Australia too. Amid this situation, things became worse as many players and commentators from Australia like Michael Slater and Brett Lee are parts of the cash-rich league and currently in India too.

Apart from them, players like David Warner and Steve Smith too have been playing. On the other hand, the Australian government have banned flights from India till May 15. Moreover, recently the country’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison has said that cricketers in the IPL will have to make their own arrangements to return to the country.

After that, Slater took to Twitter and slammed his government for not helping them. He wrote, “If our Government cared for the safety of Aussies they would allow us to get home. It’s a disgrace!! Blood on your hands PM. How dare you treat us like this. How about you sort out quarantine system. I had government permission to work on the IPL but I now have government neglect”.

Meanwhile, three Australian cricketers – Adam Zampa, Andrew Tye and Kane Richardson have pulled out from the tournament and left for home. Notably, a total number of 14 Australian players are playing in the tournament. And, the virus has also affected the Monday’s match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The game has been postponed after KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier have been tested positive for the global pandemic novel coronavirus.

Along with them, five Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) ground staff and two members of the Chennai Super Kings franchise have also been tested positive. From CSK camp, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, bowling coach L Balaji and a bus cleaner have reportedly returned with positive results which left everyone in trouble too.
