On May 4 (Tuesday), the BCB took to Twitter and wished him on his 37th birthday. He had made his debut as a 19-year-old way back in 2003. He came into the limelight after dismissing the then England captain Michael Vaughan off his third delivery. With this, he became the first Bangladeshi player to claim a wicket in his first international over itself.

Soon after, the young all-rounder made his debut in the longer format against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. However, in March 2007, Manzarul Islam Rana lost his life at the very young age of 22 years and 316 days after facing a road accident.

The tweet went viral in seconds and veteran India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who is quite vocal on social media has also shared his shocking expression with an emoji. He was also taken aback like other fans. However, BCB later deleted their previous tweet and shared a new one. “Happy Birthday to Manjural Islam Rana. One of the Greatest Tiger we ever had. #BCB #HBDManjuralIslamRana,” BCB wrote.
