The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was recently suspended for an indefinite period of time. This was due to the growing number of Covid 19 cases in India as well as within the members involved with the tournament. Players, members of support staff, and others were at the risk of being infected. Even some of the groundsmen had tested positive in Delhi. With that being said, it became essential for the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council to put the tournament to a halt.

Keeping that in mind, the tournament was at its mid-way so far. Half the games had already been played, with the second half of the matches still remained. With that being said, things were quite interesting at the halt.

Though there were quite a few players that impressed, some of them failed to leave their mark on the tournament. That was either before they left or got injured or just succumbed to the pressure. Some of these stars play for the Indian national team as well. Their performances in the competition would have put them in doubt for selection possibly.

Top-order

Shubman Gill (KKR) (Inns: 7, Runs: 132)

Ahead of the IPL 2021, Shubman Gill was expected to have a breakthrough year but he was one of the worst batsmen on the team. Has failed to give any positive starts to KKR. This has halted their progress and the team suffered losses in crucial matches that they could have won. More failures and he could be dropped from the Indian team as well.

Manan Vohra (RR) (Inns: 4, Runs: 42)

Manan Vohra witnessed another worse season. He only managed to score 42 runs in the four games that he has been played. He flopped in all four innings and as a result, he was replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The latter has impressed since coming into the team. Due to this, Vohra will not be able to make a comeback when the tournament resumes.

Ishan Kishan (MI) (Inns: 5, Runs: 73)

One of the most disappointing batsmen in the Mumbai Indians team in IPL 2021 was Ishan Kishan. He never managed to get going in the tournament, before it was stopped. Before this season, he was expected to get into the Indian team for the World T20 later this year, but now, his chances have gone down quite a bit.
