Nick Hockley, Cricket Australia’s interim CEO Monday said that he is grateful to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for making sure Australian players and support staff reach home safely amid the crunch time of COVID-19 in the country. Notably, they were in the Maldives after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season was suspended on May 4 due to a surge of positive cases inside the bio-bubble.
However, the entire Australian contingent was staying in the Maldives due to a travel ban on Australia from India. Notably, the thirty-eight member of the Australian team has reached home on Monday. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey who had earlier tested positive for Covid-19 is also expected to reach the country on Monday via a separate flight as well.

“We’re delighted. We’re really grateful to the BCCI for getting them home quickly and safely. I haven’t spoken to them since they’ve landed, but obviously we’ve been in text exchange and I’m sure they’ll be very relieved and very appreciative to be home,” Sydney Morning Herald quoted Nick Hockley as saying.
On the other hand, the infamous ball-tampering scandal of Australia has once again made headlines after Cameron Bancroft suggested that apart from them (Bancroft, David Warner and Steve Smith) there were other players too who had knowledge about the incident. However, when he was asked whether he knew anything about this, Hockley denied it as well.

Meanwhile, Nick Hockley was seen hopeful about their upcoming limited-overs series against West Indies.
“We plan each tour as we go. We’ve got a bit of time now before West Indies. International cricket will need to support each other, we’ve seen last summer, with India coming here, what a great series that was, and we’re committed to supporting other cricketing nations around the world,” concluded Nick Hockley.
