Wriddhiman Saha Test Negative For Covid-19 Twice, Ready For UK Tour

The veteran Indian wicket-keeper batsman, Wriddhiman Saha has attained complete recovery from Covid-19 and he will be part of the 20-man squad for the England tour. He has witnessed two successive negative tests twice during his quarantine period. He had tested positive for the virus during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 before the indefinite suspension of the tournament on May 4.

Notably, Saha has been added to the Indian squad for the upcoming inaugural World Test Championship final against New Zealand and then the five-match Test series against England in the UK as well. However, it is also noteworthy that, while announcing the squad the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also mentioned that Wriddhiman Saha and KL Rahul, who recently had an apprentices surgery, will be available if only they become match fit and also clear the fitness test.

However, Saha had initially tested positive on May 4 prior to the game between SunRisers Hyderabad and the defending champions Mumbai Indians. Notably, on the same day, veteran Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Mishra has also tested positive for the deadly virus which forced the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council to call off the cash-rich league with immediate effect for an indefinite time period.

Apart from them, KKR’s Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrior, CSK’s L Balaji and Mike Hussey were also infected by the virus. Earlier, took to Twitter and shared an update about his health. He revealed that his quarantine period is still going on as one of his two mandatory Covid tests has returned positive as well. Notably, he has played for SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recently postponed IPL 2021.

“My quarantine period is still not over. As a part of the routine check-up, 2 tests were done, out of which 1 was negative and the other one came as positive. Otherwise, I am doing much better. Requesting everyone not to spread misleading stories/information without the whole context,” Wriddhiman Saha shared in his statement on Twitter.
