In a video shared on their (ICC) website, former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara has recalled a few moments when he had played against the legendary Indian leg-spinner as well. He said, “Kumble has given me a few sleepless nights”.

“He was not your orthodox leg-spinner. This big, tall gangly bowler running in and bowling with a very high arm action. It was not at all easy to get him away for runs,” Sangakkara further added.

Anil Kumble has played in 132 Tests for India and claiming 619 wickets that also included 35 five-wicket hauls as well. The spin legend also played in 271 One Day International matches for Team India with 337 wickets to his name as well. Notably, he is at third place in the all-time leading wicket-takers in Test matches just behind Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan and Australian spin maestro Shane Warne.
