New Zealand have started their preparations for the World Test Championship Final last week. They are currently playing against England in a two-match Test series with the first game ending in a draw at Lord’s. On the other hand, Team India reached England for the WTC final just a few days ago and have been allowed to practice in Southampton’s Ageas Bowl ground. However, the team can’t practice in unison before finishing their three-day isolation.
New Zealand skipper sounded very excited whenever he talked about the prospect of playing in the inaugural final of the World Test Championship. He will face Virat Kohli’s side, who topped the points table of WTC.

Both Kane Williamson and Kohli have been playing against each other since age cricket. When Kohli’s U-19 team won the World Cup in Malaysia, they defeated Williamson’s Kiwi side in the semifinal. Both captains collided again during the semifinal of the World Cup 2019 in England and this time, Williamson’s men came victorious. With the scoreline even, the WTC final will give the wood to the winning captain over his opposite number.
Speaking to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Kane Williamson spoke about the rivalry he has had with Indian captain Virat Kohli as the two have played against each other since the days of age-group cricket.

“Yeah, hard case. Over the years, we have played against each other in so many different levels and competitions and have known each other fairly well. So, it will be quite cool walking out there, doing the toss and having a bit of contact in the first Test Championship Final,” Kane Williamson said.
The WTC Final will undergo in Southampton’s Ageas Bowl Stadium from June 18.
