India and New Zealand are currently playing the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) final in Southampton. For the clash, India have played with two specialist spinners whereas New Zealand have none in their kitty which left many surprised, including Shane Warne.
However, Warne stated that spinners will play a crucial role since huge foot marks are developing as well. “Very disappointed in Nz not playing a spinner in the #ICCWorldTestChampionship as this wicket is going to spin big with huge foot marks developing already. Remember if it seems it will spin. India make anything more than 275/300 ! The match is over unless weather comes in !” Warne wrote on Twitter.

On the other hand, Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has recently said that the World Test Championship is the daddy of all the World Cups. He again added that this is the biggest and toughest version of the game and the win will be a huge achievement for the Indian team as well.

The Indian team has recently defeated Australia Down Under and then England at home and finished at the top of the points table. It was only recently that New Zealand topped the chart after winning their two-match Test series against England by 1-0. Both India and New Zealand are currently playing the final in Southampton as well.
While talking to Star Sports before the toss, Ravi Shastri said, “On an occasion like this we wanted to get out as quickly as possible. [On thoughts of changing the announced XI] Not really. Unless you would have had another washout today and the game had been reduced to a 2-3 day game, but otherwise with the kind of attack we have, we take the pitch out of the equation. On a day like this, it helps the fast bowlers get help, but when the sun comes out the spinners would come into play”.
