Anushka Sharma will be playing the lead role in the biopic of the legendary Indian cricketer, Jhulan Goswami as it was announced in January 2020. The actress, who is also the better half of the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, was seen with Jhulan Goswami at the Eden Gardens wearing the India jersey for some photoshoot, leading to rumors that she was playing the lead role in the biopic.
However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there had been no news regarding the progress of the biopic. Anushka Sharma, meanwhile, got pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, which she and Virat named Vamika, and according to the latest reports of Bollywood Hungama, Anushka will resume shooting of the biopic.

Despite there not been any official announcement about the development of the film, a report in Bollywood Hungama, suggests that the movie is in the scripting stage and the shooting will commence by the end of this year or later.
The reports of the portal read: “It is not shelved for sure. The film is under development and in the scripting stage. Once the script is approved, the director would be finalized after which Anushka would start the preparation. And only then the film will go on floors.
It further added, “Anushka is enjoying motherhood right now and she and Vamika are also accompanying Virat on his cricket tours. So the film won’t go on floors before 2021-end. But it’ll definitely be something to watch out for. Jhulan’s journey has been inspiring and moreover, Anushka is sure to do complete justice to the role.”
Jhulan Goswami is a former captain of the Indian team and the best bowler country had ever seen. Back in August 2018, she announced her retirement from WT20Is. She has multiple records under her belt and she won the ICC Women’s Player Of The Year in 2007 and the M A Chidambaram Trophy for Best Women Cricketer in 2011.

On the field, Jhulan has scalped as many as 41 wickets in 11 Test matches and 56 wickets in 68 T20 matches. In 189 ODIs, Jhulan Goswami has taken 236 wickets with a best of 6/31 and she was the first bowler to pick 200 wickets in women’s ODI matches.
