Former Indian all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi believes Ravi Shastri has done a good job while being the head coach of the Indian team. He believes if India wins the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE, Shastri will continue as coach of the team.
Team India has reached new heights in Shastri’s ongoing tenure. They defeated Australia in their own backyard twice while also topping the Test rankings for the past five consecutive years. However, not winning the ICC tournaments has become a concern for many but Shastri can remove that stain by winning the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.

The defeat in the inaugural World Test Championship Final against New Zealand is the latest agony which Team India suffered. However, Reetinder Singh Sodhi is confident if India wins the T20 World Cup, Shastri will retain his job.
“This is speculative for sure. It will be wrong to say that Ravi Shastri has not performed well. He has done quite well but if the parameter is winning trophies, we have not done that. But if the Indian team wins the T20 World Cup, it will be impossible to remove Ravi Shastri,” Sodhi said during a discussion on India News.

“He has done a decent job earlier as well and winning the trophy, something we have been waiting for, I think the purpose will be filled. But at the end of the day, the way Rahul bhai has gone to Sri Lanka as a coach and the board rejected the proposal of two additional batsmen, you get a somewhat different signal. If you ask me, there is pressure on Ravi bhai,” he added.
Shastri is currently in England, where India will play the five-match Test series against the hosts. Meanwhile, a second-string Indian squad is in Sri Lanka to play three ODIs and as many T20Is. Rahul Dravid was roped in as acting coach for this tour.
