Shikhar Dhawan is preparing to lead Team India for the first time in the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. He feels his primary job will be to keep everyone in the team happy and make them play together as a team against Sri Lanka.
Dhawan was named to lead the team in absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is in England preparing for the upcoming five-match Test series.

Dhawal will lead a rather young team in the absence of eight regular white-ball players. BCCI named several youngsters opportunities to represent the national team after their constant good performance in domestic cricket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named the vice-captain of this team.
“It is a big achievement for me that I have become the captain of the Indian side. As a leader, my idea is to keep everyone together and happy that is the most important thing.
“We have got a lovely bunch of boys, great support staff, and we have worked earlier as well,” Dhawan said on the Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues’.
Rahul Dravid is stepping in as head coach with Ravi Shastri is with the Test squad in England. Dhawan shared his experience of working with Dravid.

“I have a good relation with Rahul Bhai. When I started playing Ranji Trophy, I played against him, and I have known him since then. When I went to play India A match, I was the captain, and he was the coach, so there was interaction,” Dhawan added.
“When he became the director of NCA, we used to go there for around 20 days, so we had a lot of interaction, and now we have good chemistry. And now that we have the chance to play six matches together, so it will be great fun, and I think we all sync nicely.”
India will begin the ODI series against Sri Lanka on July 18.
