Dinesh Karthik has been the talk of the cricketing town since picking up the mic instead of the bat. He was invited to commentate during the World Test Championship Final involving India and New Zealand in Southampton. Since then, he hasn’t looked back as Sky Sports gave him commentary duties for the England-Pakistan series as well.

He last played for India during THAT semifinal of World Cup 2019 against New Zealand, after which India crashed out of the tournament. He has been active in the Indian Premier League, though, where he plays for Kolkata Knight Riders but hasn’t enjoyed a great time while donning the purple and gold. He was sacked from captaincy during the IPL 2020 as the team management decided to give the reins to Eoin Morgan.

Recently, Karthik uploaded his elegant photos on Instagram, where the caption reads, “Just me being me.”

Responding to this post, Rohit Sharma reminded Karthik that his cricketing days aren’t over yet. Rohit wrote in the comment section, “You still have some cricket left. FYI.” To which, Karthik replied, “don’t ever doubt that.”

Karthik will return to cricket during the upcoming second-leg of the IPL 2021 in the UAE, which got suspended in May after the Covid-19 breached the bio-bubble environment of the league. Kolkata Knight Riders weren’t in the best form when the league was halted. They were reeling on seventh place with two wins under their belt out of seven games they played.

Karthik is looking to make a comeback in the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021, which will take place in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 15. The chances are slim but Karthik has made several heroic comebacks in the past as well and one can never count him out.
