Stand-in Indian skipper Shikhar Dhawan threw light on the comparisons of Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri as coaches. Dhawan admitted he enjoys the time under both and believes everyone has their different qualities.
Team India is all set to take on Sri Lanka in three ODIs and three T20Is, starting from July 18 in Colombo. Rahul Dravid was named to coach this team in absence of Ravi Shastri, who is busy with India’s Test team in England, where they will play five Test matches against the hosts. Shikhar Dhawan mentioned the difference between the duo ahead of the first One-Day International match against Sri Lanka.

“They (Dravid and Shastri) both have their own qualities and they both are very positive people,” Dhawan said during a virtual press conference on the eve of the opening ODI.
“I have spent time with Ravi Bhai (Ravi Shastri) and their ways to motivate are different. Ravi Bhai’s energy is a bit strong, whereas Rahul Bhai (Rahul Dravid) is very calm, composed and strong as well, so everyone has their own way and I enjoy playing under both of them.”
Team India has a good depth in the spin department, where Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are expected to combine together. The famous spin twins last played together in the World Cup 2018 against England. Since then, those two haven’t played together.

Meanwhile, Dhawan mentioned Rahul Chahar is an equally good spinner and might feature against Sri Lanka.
“Of course, they (Kuldeep and Chahal) share great chemistry. They have played so many matches, bowling really well. Even Rahul is a great spinner. We have a bunch of boys bowing well, they are on top of their game and you will see them bowling well,” Dhawan mentioned.
He will be leading India in absence of regular skipper Virat Kohli, who is in England preparing for the England Test series.
