The young Indian opener, Prithvi Shaw hasn’t just scored runs against Sri Lanka in the first ODI, he annihilated teh Sri Lankan bowlers. He scored runs at a brisk pace and provided a blistering start to the game. Prithvi Shaw well and truly broke Sri Lanka’s confidence when India was chasing a target of 263 runs. He switched to T20 mode by smashing boundaries at will.

Prithvi Shaw smashed a flurry of 9 fours at a scintillating strike rate of 179.17. He could have smashed a quickfire half-century. However, Dhananjaya de Silva dismissed him in the third ball of the 6th over. Shaw departed after played a fiery knock of 24-ball 43.

Shaw was adjudged the man of the match for his blistering start and India’s stand-in skipper, Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with an unbeaten 86 including 6 fours and a six. Ishan Kishan showcased his mettle by scoring a fifty on his ODI debut. He scored 59 off 42 balls including 8 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 140.48.

Suryakumar Yadav also played a brilliant knock of an unbeaten 31 off 20 balls including 5 fours. Team India chased down the target in just 36.4 overs and 7 wickets in hand. During the first ODI, India scored 57 runs in the first 5 overs. The start was important to get things going in the early stage of the innings.

Meanwhile, former Indian opener Virender Sehwag posted a story on Instagram which featured himself, Sachin Tendulkar, and Brian Lara. Sehwag posted a caption talking about the former era of their supreme destruction. Sehwag’s story went viral on social media. Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw came up with a reply and won the hearts of the fans.

Prithvi Shaw posted a comment adding that he has been learning the skills from the Indian legends. He credited Virender Sehwag as the latter was the ultimate destroyer in his heydays.
