Indian captain Virat Kohli demonstrated some of his best performances with the bat during the 3-match Test series against Sri Lanka. He was on a record-breaking spree with the bat, but now he made another one without using his bat. With India defeating Sri Lanka in the series by 1-0, Virat won his 9th consecutive Test series.

The only other skipper who has taken a team to 9 consecutive Test series wins other than Kohli is the two-time World Cup winning Australian skipper Ricky Ponting. England has won 8 consecutive Test series between 1884 and 1891/92 but saw a number of captaincy changes in that time period.

Kohli’s next project will be the Test series against South Africa in January next year. If India manages to clinch the Test series against Proteas, then Virat will become the only skipper with 10 Test series triumphs.

With his bat, Virat was at his ferocious best as he amassed as many as 610 runs in just 5 innings with the help of 3 centuries (two double-centuries), a fifty and a duck as well. He was adjudged as man of the series for his superhuman effort.
