The match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe saw a hilarious incident along with some late fireworks from both sides. While underdogs Zimbabwe finally won the game after doing well in previous matches, the 18th over of Bangladesh’s chase witnessed an incident that went viral in no time. Mohammad Saifuddin was on strike and suddenly the bells fell off.
Bangladesh required 41 runs off the last three overs, while they were chasing a total of 167. On the other hand, Sikandar Raza, Zimbabwe’s captain decided to bowl to the experienced Tendia Chatara as well. And, it was the penultimate delivery of the 18th over, the pace bowler decided to bowl a good length ball to Saifuddin, who played the ball into the leg side.

By then, Chatara had already dismissed Afif Hossain and soon after Mohammad Saifuddin took a single, Zimbabwe players started appealing for hit-wicket as the bails had fallen over due to wind. However, the video clip showed that Saifuddin didn’t make any contact with the stumps and it was the wind that did the work. And, the batsman was declared not out.
While the video became viral on social media as the batsman getting “dismissed by a ghost”, the video clearly showed what had happened to Mohammad Saifuddin.

With 31 required off the last over, Saifuddin went for a big one but was eventually dismissed by Luke Jongwe, who also successfully restrict the opponent and helped Zimbabwe win over Bangladesh by 23 runs. Wesley Madhavere’s 73 (57) earned him the Man Of The Match award while Ryan’s cameo of a quickfire 34* also helped them as well. As far as Bangladesh’s innings is concerned, they failed to put up a good show as debutant Shamim Hossain top-scored with a quick 29 off only 13 to leave his mark in the international cricket as well.
