Ravi Shastri has been the head coach of Team India since 2017 and has done a good job. India are playing an aggressive brand of cricket and has stamped their authority as the leading team in world cricket. Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri’s duo is the major factor for this success of Indian cricket.

However, Shastri can be seen out of Team India’s setup after the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 in the UAE. His contract will end after the completion of the tournament and there isn’t a certainty of him keeping to his job.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly will be on a tour of England this week and is expected to have a talk with Shastri regarding his future as the head coach. Ganguly will be accompanied by fellow BCCI officials, who will land in London on Thursday and will return after the Lord’s Test.
“Too early to talk about this, but as you are aware the president, secretary, treasurer, and vice-president are landing in London today. So they will interact with Shastri and the team and discuss various things around the tour and future of Indian cricket. If there is much to the topic of Shastri not looking to continue, it will surely be discussed over the course of the Lord’s Test. But I would still say too early,” the source said as quoted by Inside Sport.
There have been talks about Rahul Dravid’s appointment as the head coach of Team India. Several experts want him to overtake Shastri at the top post while others believe if Shastri has fared well as a coach then there’s no point to remove him.

Dravid was sent to Sri Lanka with a young Indian team for the ODI and T20I series. His team did win the ODI series but conceded the T20I series after a covid-19 outbreak in the Indian camp. Since then, the voices of Dravid’s appointment have grown strong and it won’t be a surprise if that happens with the time.

On the other hand, Team India has won back-to-back Test series in Australia under Shastri’s mentorship. The ODI series win in South Africa and New Zealand also highlights the high points of the Indian team. But the failure of securing a title in the ICC events has often led this team to criticism for faltering on the big occasion.
