Team India will commence the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka starting Sunday with the aim of winning 3-0 and overtaking South Africa to take numero uno position in the ICC ODI Team Rankings.
A 3-0 whitewash will help the Indian team reclaim the no.1 spot from South Africa. The men in blue are already played at the no.1 position in Tests and are on 120 points in the ODI rankings, only one point behind South Africa.
With a win in Dharamshala on Sunday, the Indian cricket team will take the no.1 spot from South Africa by reaching 121 points and edge the Proteas on decimal points. But, in order to maintain the lead, Team India needs to whitewash teh Islanders by winning the matches in Mohali and Visakhapatnam on 13 and 17 December.
India will slip to 119 points even if they register a 2-1 ODI series win. On the other hand, eighth-ranked Sri Lanka will remain on 83 points even with a 3-0 loss but can go up to 87 points with a 3-0 series win.
