The third Test between India and England are currently going on at Headingley, Leeds where England players were seen wearing black armbands. However, with a drawn Test at Trent Bridge and a win at Lord’s saw India went 1-0 up in the five-match test series as well.

As far as the third Test, England restricted India within 78 runs in the first innings on Day 1 and later added an unbeaten 120 runs as well. However, at the start of the second day, they wore black armbands. The reason for the same has been shared by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as well where they mentioned it was to mark their respect for the legendary former cricketer Ted Dexter.

On the other hand, former cricketer Maninder Singh has slammed Team India captain Virat Kohli and the head coach Ravi Shastri for their “huge blunder” while choosing to bat first after having won the toss at Headingley.

Speaking on this during an interaction with ESPNcricinfo, Maninder Singh said: “Stuart Broad tweeted about this too that the ball only seams around for the first four hours and that’s the best time to bowl. I also believe that you should bat first after winning the toss but you should look at the conditions as well. And when you saw the overcast conditions, you should have changed the decision you perhaps took last night.”
He concluded: “The issue I have is how Virat Kohli, who is so experienced and then Ravi Shastri, who played and won at this ground in 1986, played so much county cricket, made such a huge blunder? That, too, after knowing that neither he (Virat Kohli) himself nor Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane are in good form… that’s why I believed they should have bowled first after winning the toss.”
