Former New Zealand all-rounder Chris Cairns, who has returned to Canberra, has suffered a stroke in his spine and due to that, his legs got paralysed. The news was reported by Stuff.co.nz. However, he has been living with his wife and kids in Canberra, following heart surgery but was in a critical condition.
The 51-year-old veteran cricketer has also suffered complications after the major heart surgery in Sydney, where he was admitted at St Vincent’s Hospital. However, he was also on life support after the aortic dissection as his situation was pretty bad. But, last week, he got a little better and was taken off life support as well. Even, he was able to communicate with his family also.

On Friday, Aaron Lloyd, Cairns’ lawyer, has said in a statement, “During the life saving emergency heart surgery Chris underwent in Sydney he suffered a stroke in his spine. This has resulted in paralysis in his legs. As a result he will be undertaking a significant rehabilitation process at a specialist spinal hospital in Australia. Chris and his family remain appreciative of the immense public support as they deal with this difficult time. They also appreciate the way in which their privacy has been respected.”
He continued: “Chris and his family now want to focus on spending time together where possible and making whatever progress they can in his recovery. We will update everyone when there is more news, but that is likely to be some time away.”

As far as the India and England third Test is concerned, India could manage only 78 runs in the first innings. And, former cricketer Michael Vaughan slammed Team India for their poor show in the first two days of the third Test against England. However, England posted 423/8 before Day 2 ends, with a lead of 345 runs as well.
