The fiery Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami has become privy to abuse on various social media platforms by some of the trolls after India lost to Pakistan by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup 2021. In an unfortunate turn of events, the Indian fast bowler was subjected to online trolling once the game was concluded. The main areas being targeted were the Islamic background of Mohammed Shami and his ‘deliberate’ bad performance against fellow Muslims on the Pakistan side.
Check out the screenshot shared by journalist Abhishek Baxi, who shared the pictures and tweeted, “Sanghis have started abusing Md. Shami after the loss. After the racist attacks against few English players at Euro, the team came in support of them. India’s hockey skipper Rani Rampal criticized casteist remarks against a teammate. Your move, @imVkohli and everyone else.”

The trolls asked Mohammed Shami how much he sold himself for vs Pakistan and it just went on and on. Mohammed Shami of course has taken the wiser route and decided not to react and is silent as of now. Shami had a bad day at the office he failed to take a wicket and conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs. Pakistan won with 13 balls to spare as Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan made merry. This is the first time Pakistan has beaten India in the T20 World Cup.

After all the abuse online faced by Mohammed Shami, former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has come in support of the pacer. Sehwag tweeted, “The online attack on Mohammad Shami is shocking and we stand by him. He is a champion and Anyone who wears the India cap has India in their hearts far more than any online mob. With you Shami. Agle match mein dikado jalwa.”

One of the most popular Australian journalists, Jarrod Kimber also came in support of Mohammed Shami as he posted the scored of 2015 World CUp match between India and Pakistan where Shami took four crucial wickets and led Indai to a win.

Here are some of the other tweets which came in support of Mohammed Shami:
RCB took a stance when Christian was attacked. KKR and others followed suit. Some cricketers, too.
I wonder how BCCI and Shami's teammates will respond to this. https://t.co/JydGV2vdEK

The Indian team through Kohli should really make a statement calling out the horrific Islamophobic abuse Shami is getting on his Instagram – it’s time to tell these so called “fans” that the Indian cricket team doesn’t want you.

Seasonal fans who watches India's game only when they play in ICC events have got no rights to criticise the Indian team, especially Mohammad Shami. The one who follows this team and Shami day and night knows their calibre and how good they are. Terrible from some people.

These are some of the comments on Mohammed Shami’s Instagram account. The hyper-nationalist Indian cricket fans have unleashed worst form of communal abuse on Shami for India’s loss against Pakistan. Not surprised at all because this is what India is famous for. #IndvsPak pic.twitter.com/KCsSzAr5y3

Don't be surprised if Indian 'seculars' will now make "online attacks on Shami" an issue, ignoring everything from Kufr slurs by Pakistani captain to "victory of Islam" jibe by Pak minister to lack of solidarity for Bangladeshi Hindus
They will toe the Pakistani line. Again. https://t.co/J4mtuc2ZQz

My last cricket thought of the evening is that even when we lose matches, Pakistani fans have a sense of humour about things and a kind of elan. I'm horrified by the vile abuse heaped on Mohammad Shami by his compatriots. The rot of hatred seems to have infected everywhere there

Is the Indian cricket team going to take a gratuitous knee for Black Lives Matter, entirely disconnected from the Indian reality, but stay silent on the bigoted online attacks against Mohd Shami? We expect better @imVkohli .
