Former India pace bowler Zaheer Khan has stated that the game between New Zealand and India in the T20 World Cup 2021 is going to be a virtual eliminator. He said that because Pakistan has so far defeated both India and New Zealand in their first two matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

On the other hand, only two teams will qualify for the semifinals from one group and one another defeat will make things tough for India as well as New Zealand as well. While speaking on Cricbuzz Live Hindi after the T20 World Cup 2021 match between Pakistan and New Zealand, Zaheer Khan opened up on this.

He said: “New Zealand vs. India match will probably decide which team will be eliminated because both teams have lost a match and now will play against each other. Everyone was saying this is an easy group, but this is a tricky group. India need to win their match against New Zealand at any cost. Otherwise, it will be very challenging for them.”

However, New Zealand and India will take on each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on October 31. And, both the teams will try to get back in the winning zone and try to secure their place for the next round. Meanwhile, speaking on the same show, another former Indian speedster Ashish Nehra analyzed Pakistan’s all-round performance in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 so far. He believed that they will go to the next round after having defeated India and New Zealand as well. Pakistan will next play against Afghanistan on October 29 in Dubai.

“More or less you can say that Pakistan are through to the semifinals. T20 World Cup qualification works in this way only. If you win two matches, that too against New Zealand and India, I don’t think there could have been a better start. So, I think Pakistan have secured a place in the semifinals,” Ashish Nehra said.
