Pakistan has had a great start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 where they had reached the semi-final unbeaten. However, they failed to keep up the momentum in the semi-final and eventually lost to Australia. After the loss, captain Babar Azam was seen addressing his team in the dressing room and gave a speech.

During an interaction with his team in the dressing room, Babar said that he knows everyone is hurt after the loss, but it is time to stick together as well. He said: “Everybody is feeling the pain. Where we made mistakes and where we should have done better, everybody is realizing that through pain. Nobody will tell us this. We know. But we have to learn from this. We have become a unit and it must not be broken.”

He further added: “Nobody should point a finger towards the other, that somebody has done this, somebody has done that. We will learn from this and will not repeat our mistakes in the future. Am telling you, this bond must not break just for one defeat. This is the time to help each other.”

However, batting consultant Matthew Hayden has also said that everyone should be proud the way they have played where they best strong teams like – India and New Zealand, who eventually reached the final as well. “We put in every last bit of effort that we could. Left nothing on the field of play. And we should be all proud,” Hayden said.

After the loss, Babar Azam said: “I thought we scored as many runs as we had planned in the first innings. I think if we give such teams a chance in the back end, it is going to be costly. The turning point was that dropped catch. Had we taken it, the scenario could have been different. The way we gelled and played the entire tournament, I am satisfied as a captain. Hopefully we’ll learn from this for the next tournament. When you play so well throughout, there were small mistakes that cost us the match in the end. We gave players roles and they executed it really well. The way the crowds supported us, we enjoyed a lot as a team. We always enjoy playing here.”
