New Zealand fast-bowling all-rounder, Kyle Jamieson has opted out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against India as he wants to focus more on the following Test series as it will be the start of the new World Test championship cycle for the Kiwis. Jamieson joins his skipper Kane Williamson, who has also decided to miss the T20Is to prepare for the two-match Test series, scheduled to be commencing on November 25 in Kanpur.

As per the quotes in stuff.co.nz, coach, Gary Stead said, “We decided through talking with Kane and Kyle that they won’t play in this T20 series. They’re both going to get ready for the Test matches and I think you’ll find there will be other guys involved in the Test matches that won’t play the entire series either.”

He further added, “It’s a bit of a balancing act at the moment, and with three T20 games in five days plus travel to three different cities it’s a very, very busy time.”

New Zealand, who had lost the T20 World Cup final on Sunday, flew into India the next morning and have little acclimatization time, something Stead and Kane Williamson believe isn’t ideal.

Describing the same, Gary Stead said, “It’s the first time that I can remember that we’re so quickly into another series immediately at the back-end of the T20 World Cup. It’s definitely tough and challenging but it is what is in front of us.”
