Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has said that ‘SKY’ should not be the limit but it should be a benchmark after his heroic match-winning fifty against New Zealand in Jaipur. Riding on Suryakumar Yadav’s fifty, India registered a five-wicket win against New Zealand to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

After the game, Suryakumar Yadav, who also goes by the abbreviation ‘SKY’, told that SKY should not be the limit.

“I think the sky is not the limit, going forward it should be a benchmark. Really loved the way things went for me on the ground, just wanted to bat in the same way like I was doing in the nets,” he said.

“I think New Zealand’s preparation was really good, they did not let me explore the cover drive option so I had to play other shots.”

He, further, revealed that Rohit Sharma decided to play out Mitchell Santner and target Todd Astle.

“I played out Mitchell Santner, this is the call me and Rohit took and we knew that they had a new spinner in their lineup. So, I just waited for the leg spinner to come and went after him,” he said.

New Zealand scored 164/6 in 20 overs while batting first. Martin Guptill and Mark Chapman scored fifties but no significant contribution from other batters resulted in New Zealand setting a below-par total for India.

Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul walked out with all guns blazing and scored fifty runs inside the powerplay. Suryakumar Yadav, then, punished the New Zealand bowlers. India had hiccups towards the end but Rishabh Pant kept his calm to take India over the line with five wickets in hand.
