Meanwhile, Axar Patel, who has emerged as a vital part of the Indian team across formats especially in the games at home, is giving the ongoing South Africa tour a miss due to a stress fracture. He’s unlikely to come back in the team for the home series against Sri Lanka. Hence, it would be interesting to see when he will be coming back in action.

It must be noted that 2021 was a breakthrough year for Axar Patel. Making his Test debut against England, the left-arm all-rounder had some sensational spells and made a dream start to his career in Test cricket as he scalped 27 wickets in three matches as the then Virat Kohli-led side clinched the series 3-1.
