IPL 2022 Auction: Jasprit Bumrah Stuns The Fans With His Cryptic Tweet

The Premier Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, who will be plying his trade for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 left cricket fans pretty confused with his latest cryptic tweet during the first day of the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru on Saturday (February 12). Bumrah tweeted just a couple emojis: a laughter emoji followed by a facepalm emoji.

Jasprit Bumrah was retained by Mumbai Indians (MI) as part of the player retentions ahead of the mega auction. The star Indian fast bowler was retained for a fee of ₹12 crores.

Meanwhile, the Indian wicket-keeper batter, Ishan Kishan on Saturday was bought for a whopping ₹15.25 crores by the Mumbai Indians on Day 1 of the auction. After being bought by MI,  Kishan became the most expensive buy of the IPL 2022 auction. Last year, he was released by MI ahead of the IPL auction.

Ishan Kishan was bought by the Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2018 season. He played a crucial role for the franchise which helped them to win back-to-back titles in 2019 and 2020. He was the top scorer of the team in the 2020 season, amassing 516 runs from 14 matches.

Kishan overtook Shreyas Iyer to become the most expensive buy of the IPL 2022 auction. Shreyas was earlier bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping price of ₹12.25 crore. Ishan Kishan was also MI’s first buy of the event.

Ishan Kishan also became the second-most expensive Indian cricketer, and fourth-most expensive overall, in IPL history. For MI, Ishan had amassed 1,133 runs in 45 matches across four seasons. Ahead of the auction, MI had retained four players. They had held on to Rohit Sharma (₹16 crores), ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah (₹12 crores), experienced batter Suryakumar Yadav (₹8 crores), and veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard (₹6 crores).
