With an aim of sealing the series, India locked horns with West Indies in the ongoing second T20I against West Indies. Having won the previous clash by six wickets, the Men in Blue managed to clinch the three-match affair with an 8-run win in the contest. As the coin landed in the visiting team’s favor, Rohit Sharma’s men were asked to bat first on a tricky track at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

While Virat Kohli anchored the innings with a well-paced half-century, Rishabh Pant and Venkatesh Iyer made a fiery partnership of 70+ runs towards the end. The two southpaws played some delightful shots as West Indies bowlers endured a horrendous time in the last few overs. Notably, the ongoing series holds great significance for Venkatesh with the T20 World Cup taking place later this year in Australia.

Venkatesh Oyer is certainly making great use of this opportunity with back-to-back fiery knocks. Coming to bat in the 14th over, Venkatesh, who smashed 24 runs off 13 balls in the first T20I, went after the bowlers straightaway and impressed one and all. Meanwhile, one of his shots also caught the Indian dug-out off guard. It was the third delivery of the 15th over and left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell was operating with the ball.

As Sheldon Cottrell fired the ball down the leg stump, Venkatesh Iyer managed to hoick the ball to earn a boundary in the fine leg region. While the shot earned four runs for the Indian team, it took other members of Team India by surprise. The ball quickly went towards the dug-out and the members, sitting relaxed, hurried to dodge the ball.

The hotch-potch created turmoil in the Indian dug0out as some members fell in the ground. Nonetheless, four runs were added to India’s total. Venkatesh eventually departed in the last over but not before playing a fiery knock of 33 off just 18 deliveries. As far as Pant is concerned, the wicketkeeper-batter scored an unbeaten 52 off 28 balls as the hosts posted 186/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
