Team India registered a huge win by an innings and 222 runs against Sri Lanka in the opening game of the two-match Test series at the PCA stadium in Mohali. A lot of credit for the win goes to Ravindra Jadeja, who made an all-around performance by scoring 175 runs and scalped 9 wickets in the game. In recent times, he is certainly the most improved cricketer and his performances proved his class in the game.

Ravindra Jadeja was smashing the Sri Lankan spinner for fun during his unbeaten knock as he scored his 2nd Test century. Although it came as a surprise when India declared the innings, Jadeja was batting at 175* at that time. A few more overs would have given him a chance to score his maiden double ton.

He went on to pick nine wickets in the game. In a recent interview on BCCI.tv, the Indian off-spinner R Ashwin had a lot of praise for the skipper, Rohit Sharma. Ashwin revealed that Rohit wanted Ravindra Jadeja to score a double-hundred, but it was Jadeja’s decision to declare the innings.

R Ashwin also said that Rohit Sharma is a tactically strong guy, and he wants to give confidence to every cricket. He revealed that Rohit Sharma wanted Jayant Yadav to bowl more overs so that the bowled can gain confidence to bowl better in tough scenarios.

Explaining the same, R Ashwin said, “We all know how tactically strong is Rohit Sharma, looking for everyone in the field, how confident everyone he is, he wanted Jayant to bowl more. It was so nice and he wanted Jadeja to get his double ton – but Jaddu told it will take time and we should declare”.
