The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be commencing in just a couple of days. The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the tournament opener. What comes as shocking news for the fans is that MS Dhoni has decided to step down from CSK’s captaincy. He has decided to hand over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja.
MS Dhoni has likely taken the decision looking at the future of the franchise. He has led the Chennai-based franchise to win 4 IPL titles. He is considered to be the best Indian captain in cricket history.
During a recent interaction with the media, Kasi Viswanathan, The CEO of Chennai Super Kings has revealed the reason behind the decision. He has officially confirmed that the decision was taken by the wicket-keeper himself. Viswanathan has also confessed that the player will remain in the team and help Jadeja in strategically.
Here’s what Kasi Viswanathan said: MS Dhoni was thinking about it. He felt it is the right time to hand over captaincy to Jaddu [Jadeja]. He feels Jaddu is also in prime form of his career and it is the ideal time for him to lead CSK. What will be good for the franchise must be [in the] back of his mind,He [Jadeja] has been talked to earlier.
Even last year there was a proposal. We knew he would be the best person to succeed MS. It is similar to when he handed Virat the captaincy after having groomed him for a few years at international level.
Meanwhile, fans have realized that MS Dhoni had already dropped a hint about his decision to step down as captain. Nobody really guessed that Dhoni would make a move all of a sudden.

Similarly, he wanted the transition to be smooth Jadu has the potential to do well for the franchise. He is a good all-round cricketer, playing his best, he can get the team around. And MS’ guidance will always be there.
