MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, announced his retirement from international cricket just before the commencement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The decision was announced by the skipper out of nowhere. Dhoni recently stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai to hand it over to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of IPL 2022.

Suresh Raina is known as Mr. IPL but unfortunately, he went unsold in the mega auction for IPL 2022. The news came out as a shocking one for the cricketing franchise as Raina has been a stalwart for the Chennai-based franchise. What came as delightful news for the fans is that the southpaw is currently with Start Sports as a commentator for the Hindi language.

Suresh Raina has been part of all the initial IPL games as a commentator so far and will be expected to continue the commentary stint till the end of the tournament. He announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020 along with his teammate and dearest friend MS Dhoni. He shared the news with everyone through his Instagram and Twitter handles.

However, Raina is yet to hang his boots in other forms of the game. There have been several speculations regarding his participation in overseas leagues. He is now 35-years-old and is unlikely to feature in any future gig in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Suresh Raina is unlikely to get picked as a replacement for a player in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
