Delhi Capital (DC) wicket-keeper batter, Tim Seifert tested positive for COVID-19 just hours before the Capitals’ match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). According to reports of India TV, the New Zealand batsman has tested positive for the virus, and now the fans the to be seen if the scheduled match will take place as per the schedule.

Delhi is scheduled to lock horns with Punjab in the 32nd match at the Brabourne Stadium on Wednesday. However, with Seifert testing positive, there might be a possibility that the BCCI will consider rescheduling this game to avoid the further spread of the virus.

Seifert is the second overseas cricketer in the Delhi Capitals team after Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh to get the infection. Marsh had undergone two RT-PCR tests yesterday, with the first one coming negative and the subsequent testing returning positive.

The positive case emerged after a fresh round of testing conducted on Wednesday morning, according to a BCCI source as per PTI. The anonymous source said, “As far as we know, Tim Seifert of New Zealand has tested positive.” An anonymous DC player said, “We were tested in the morning and we will be tested again shortly. We continue to be isolated.”

According to the reports of Indian Express, Tim Seifert has tested positive for Covid-19 after a Rapid Antigen Test conducted on Wednesday afternoon and the rest of the players who are scheduled to play the PBKS game will be tested again. The match is likely to go ahead match will be played with those players whose test reports return negative.

The overall count of positive cases in Delhi’s contingent, including four supporting staff members, has now reached six.
