Kieron Pollard recently led the West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2021 and to a T20I series win over England at home. His last international series was against India where the Windie suffered a clean sweep in both the T20I and ODI series. The burly Trinidadian had made his West Indies debut in 2007 and since then he has played as many as 123 ODIs and 101 T20I matches.

Pollard  has amassed 2706 runs in ODIs with 3 centuries and 13 fifties under his belt with the highest score of 119. He also has 55 wickets in 50-overs cricket. In the T20Is, Kieron Pollard excelled a lot as he has scored as many as 1569 runs with a best of 75* and 6 fifties to his name. He is one of the few cricketers to hit 6 sixes in an over in T20I cricket. He has 42 wickets as well.

This announcement of retirement from international cricket brings down curtains on Kieron Pollard’s career which lasted 15 years for the Men in Maroon. He never played Test cricket for the West Indies and remains the player who had played the most ODIs and T20Is without playing the five-day format.

Kieron Pollard took to social media on Wednesday to announce his retirement and he posted: “As I move on and make room for those who will carry the game forward in West Indies colours, know that I will always be supporting in whatever way I can. It is with profound gratitude for living my dream that I now raise my bat in salute to all that is West Indies cricket. I am grateful to the various selectors, management teams and in particular, Coach Phil Simmons for seeing potential in me and for the faith they steadfastly had in me throughout my career.”
