Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis, who took his Indian Premier League franchise RCB to a third-place finish in his very first season as a captain has not played for South Africa in a very long time. This makes him a sought-after player in the franchise leagues across the world as well.

In the IPL, he has scored 468 runs from 16 matches, playing exciting knocks. Alongside du Plessis, the likes of Rilee Rossouw, David Wiese and Marchant de Lange have been confirmed to have entered the draft process as well. Rossouw, meanwhile, is an experienced player, who played throughout the world, while the other two – de Lange and Wiese have also been very effective across the globe in recent years.

Meanwhile, the players who will put their names into the draft will be divided into four categories as well – platinum, gold, silver and bronze depending on the number of games that they will have to play in the season. And, Faf du Plessis is likely to be in the platinum category with the highest salary cap for the players as well. Moreover, the Big Bash League has tried to make the matches more exciting with innovations in its rules as well but has always faced an issue with big names not becoming a regular part of the league as well. The draft system is likely to change that mindset and make the league become global too.
