Former South African fast bowler, Dale Steyn played for the Proteas in 93 Test Matches, 125 ODIs & 47 T20Is. He was considered to be the finest pacer of his era. The right-arm fast bowler has scalped as many as 439, 196, and 64 wickets respectively across 3 formats. The 39-year-old was the fast-bowling coach of ‘Sunrisers Hyderabad’ in the recently concluded edition of the Indian Premier League.
Dale Steyn was given a lot of credit in the positive growth of India’s young Fast Bowling Sensation, Umran Malik. Earlier, Steyn predicted that the Jammu & Kashmir fast bowler will represent Team India in the future and after just a couple of months, the prediction turned out to be an accurate one. Malik made his debut in the recently concluded T20I series against Ireland.

Meanwhile Shivam Mavi, another young Indian emerging pacer has revealed his conversation with Dale Steyn during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In an interaction with Sportskeeda, Mavi confessed that the South African has told him that – He will soon make his India debut.
The young Indian fast bowler was considered to be the player to watch out for from India’s U-19 batch of 2019 World Cup. He managed to catch some limelight along with his bowling partner Kamlesh Nagarkoti for bowling at a ferocious pace throughout the tournament.

Shivam Mavi recalled, “It was my dream to meet Dale Steyn because I’ve been following him since I was a kid. It felt really, really good to meet him. I shared things with him, and talked about the injury issues, he said – It’s OK, these things happen. You just need to focus on the things that’ll help you move forward. He also said – Just keep bowling fast, you’ll 100 percent play for India.”
