Legendary Indian batter, Sunil Gavaskar has a lot of praises for the flamboyant Indian all-rounder, Hardik Pandya for showing a lot of maturity in his game. On Sunday, July 17, after India registered a 5-wicket win over England in the third ODI, Hardik won the Player of the Series award for scoring 100 runs at an average of 50 and picking up six wickets.
In the third ODI at Old Trafford in Manchester, Pandya picked up four wickets of Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, and Liam Livingstone. Thereafter, he scored a 55-ball 71 and he also built a brilliant 133-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Rishabh Pant.

During a recent chat with India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said, “The maturity that has come into his cricket is incredible. If you have an all-rounder coming in to bat at No.5 or 6, who can pace the innings, accelerate at any given time and hit the sixes, it’s fantastic. Also, coming in the middle overs when batters are looking to score the runs, bowling those overs and getting wickets, he is doing it brilliantly. It’s really good to see Hardik Pandya coming good.”
Rishabh Pant also earned the Player of the Match in the first T20I against Jos Buttler’s Three Lions. In that game, he amassed his maiden T20I half-century and picked up four wickets. Meanwhile, Gavaskar said that India shouldn’t be concerned about their top-order’s lack of form. He said that the trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan will soon be at their best in the near future.

Sunil Gavaskar explained, “I don’t think it’s a point of concern. All these players have had magnificent careers. Let’s not be in a rush as they have plenty of time to contribute to Indian cricket. They still have a lot left in the tank. If the lower order and middle-order are also failing like the top-order, then you, maybe, need to look at other options.”
