Former Mumbai captain Aditya Tare on Monday, August 29 shifted his base from his home state to Uttarakhand prior to the upcoming domestic season. The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand has signed the player along with Jiwanjot Singh as their new outstation player as well. Swapnil Singh, on the other hand, has been retained as one of their outstation players, according to news agency PTI as well.
Tare, who was the last Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai captain, was not selected for Mumbai’s pre-season training camp. Having been dropped from Mumbai’s white-ball camps, Tare, who was part of Mumbai Indians’ squad in IPL 2022, was looking out for other options to have more game time. He has played 80 first-class matches and 73 List A matches, and he was part of Mumbai’s team which reached the Ranji Trophy finals earlier in the year. His season was cut short due to an injury in the quarter-final as well.

“It’s difficult to put into words how I feel about moving on from Mumbai. Since I was about 16 years when I got my first Mumbai cap (under-17) until today at the ripe age of 34 I’ve enjoyed myself, played with absolute pride and lived my dream of being a Mumbai player,” Aditya Tare said in a statement. “I won’t lie, it did hurt a bit the way things ended. But it’s time for new challenges, new environment and I am excited for this new phase in my playing career with so much yet to offer.”

However, he is the third Mumbai player after Arjun Tendulkar and Siddesh Lad to seek new teams in 2022. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand had done well to reach the Ranji Trophy quarterfinals in the last season as well. They lost to the mighty Mumbai in the last eight stages. Jiwanjot, who has played most of his cricket for Punjab, had played for Chhattisgarh in the 2021 season as well. Uttarakhand, meanwhile, had Jay Bista and Robin Bist as their outstation players last year as well.
