India leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi has been doing well since he started playing in the Indian Premier League. The leading wicket-taker in the U19 World Cup in 2020, Bishnoi is one of the leg spinners, relying more on his pace and drift instead of turn and flight as well. Moreover, Bishnoi has been successful in the rare ability to bowl against a left-hander and played in India’s Asia Cup squad.
He performed well against Pakistan but was not picked in the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup as well. While talking about his formative years in cricket, Bishnoi shared that originally he was a medium pacer who turned into a spinner.

“I started as a medium pacer but switched to leg spin and developed an interest and enjoyed the art of leg spin. That is when I started taking cricket seriously when I was around 11-12 years old,” remembered Ravi Bishnoi on Sports18. “My two coaches have supported me throughout the journey, and they have been my backbone. During the starting days, my parents were very supportive, but in Indian culture, there is a belief that there is no scope in sports. After a few years when my coaches explained my potential to them, they started supporting me.”
“The IPL has supported me a lot because in age group cricket everyone is of the same age or maybe younger but in IPL there is no age limit, senior players, international players so you get to learn a lot when you share the dressing room with these players and you get to bowl to so many legends,” Bishnoi stated about the Indian Premier League.
While talking about his dream, Bishnoi said that he would want to bowl alongside Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, which would provide him with a lot of learning experience as well. However, he will go to Australia as a member of the reserve squad as well.

“It was fun bowling with Yuzvendra Chahal as you know he is one of the top 5 spinners right now. If I am fortunate enough, I would love to bowl with Rashid Khan because I will get to learn how to bowl in a partnership,” concluded Ravi Bishnoi.
