The Indian team management has got a selection dilemma ahead of their crunch semi-final clash against England at the Adelaide Oval. The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma will have to decide on either playing Dinesh Karthik or Rishabh Pant or playing both in the knockout game. While several experts have given the nod to Pant, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has come in support of Karthik for the game against England.

The former offie reckons that it is unfair to compare Dinesh Karthik with MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, who did great things for the side while batting down the order. Harbhajan opined that Karthik has got immense experience and is a great player in his own right. He wants the veteran wicket-keeper batter in the XI even though acknowledges the need for a left-handed batter in the side.

During a chat on Star Sports, Harbhajan Singh said, “I would go with Rahul Dravid because he likes Rishabh Pant but I would like Dinesh Karthik who was playing earlier. Yes, it’s so tough to bat at that number, not many could do what Dhoni and Yuvraj did and you’re comparing DK with those players, who have been champions of the game. And yes, DK is a great, great player who has done well to get to this level. I think he should be given a go.”

Talking about the lean patch of the Indian skipper in the ongoing global event in Australia, Harbhajan Singh asserted that stated that Rohit Sharma is a big match player and he will come good when eth team will need him the most like Pakistani skipper Babar Azam did in the first semi-final against New Zealand. The ex-cricketer also highlighted the importance of Rohit’s runs for the Indian team.

Harbhajan Singh explained, “I think this will create an opportunity for him to show his mettle. When he scores runs, it feels like he’s batting on a different surface, no matter how difficult that surface is. We all want him to come into form and he’s been practising and trying. Things didn’t work so far, but it doesn’t mean it won’t work tomorrow. Tomorrow might be his day and when his day comes, India are going to win.”
