It’s been a while since Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been active in international cricket. Having emerged as a key hero in the Men in Blue’s ICC World Cup 2011 triumph, Yuvraj has found it tough to break into Virat Kohli’s squad for quite some time now.
But after facing fitness issues and injuries, the 36-year-old cleared the Yo-Yo Test, a mandatory benchmark for fitness set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

However, as doubts about his national team return continue to surface, former India opener Virender Sehwag has backed the southpaw to make a strong comeback.
“He’s not in the Indian team, but Yuvraj is still an amazing player. His talent is intact. Even a current India player can lose form. I don’t think we’ll get a player like him again. If his form his good, he’s a match-winner,” Sehwag was quoted saying by the Times of India.
Citing the example of veteran pacer Ashish Nehra, who announced his retirement in October 2017, Sehwag feels Yuvraj can still sneak into the national squad.
“That’s up to the selectors. If he performs in domestic cricket or passes (Yo-Yo), then why not? If Ashish Nehra can make a comeback at 36, why not Yuvi?” Viru’ fires back.

Despite his recent slump, Yuvraj previously admitted that he would not give up on himself at least for a couple of years.
“I am still playing. I don’t know what format I am going to play. But I am pushing every day as hard as I used to, maybe harder than before because I am getting older. And I see myself playing cricket till 2019 and obviously take a call after that. So I still believe in myself. As I said I don’t know how many people believe in me but I do believe in myself,” Yuvraj had said.
