The fiery Indian pacer, Umran Malik delivered fireballs in his debut match when India locked horns with New Zealand in the first of the three ODIs on Friday, November 25 at Eden Park in Auckland. Malik didn’t get a chance to play in the three-match T20I series and as a result, the Indian team management faced a lot of criticism for benching him.

However, Umran Malik played in the first ODI and didn’t take much time to make his mark by any means. The speedster is known for bowling at a ferocious pace and he lived up to his reputation. Umran came to bowl in the 11th over and started clocking in the mid and high-140s right from the word go. In his second over, he touched the 150 kmph-mark for the first time.

In his third over, Umran Malik had loads of reasons to cheer as he managed to get his maiden ODI wicket in the form of Devon Conway. Thereafter, the Black Caps’ batters started playing Umran with a lot of caution. In his fifth over, Umran picked up his second wicket in the form of Daryll Mitchell, who tried to throw his hands at a wide delivery only to hole out to Deepak Hooda.

Here is the video of the wickets taken by Umran Malik:

In his first five overs, the 23-year-old Malik had figures of 5-0-19-2 before Tom Latham took 10 runs off him in his sixth over. Malik made his debut for the Indian team earlier this year against Ireland, where he was given the responsibility to bowl the final over in one of the matches at The Village in Dublin.
