Team India’s talented wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been shifted to a private ward in a Dehradun hospital to prevent the risk of infection as well after he met a horrifying accident recently. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director Shyam Sharma said to India Today that the 25-year-old cricketer is “recovering well” after a near-fatal car crash on December 30 as well.

“Rishabh Pant has been shifted into a private room looking at the risk of infection,” the DDCA director told India Today. “Doctors shifted Pant in a private ward yesterday evening so that there is no chance of infection.”

Shyam Sharma further said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will make the decision for Pant’s ligament treatment as well. The BCCI in a statement earlier said that Pant suffered two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and also hurt his right wrist, ankle, and toe and he also has abrasion injuries on his back as well.

“As of now, he is recovering well. Till the time his recovery is on, he will be at Dehradun hospital and later BCCI will take the call for his ligament treatment that whether he needs to be shifted overseas or not, also for his plastic surgery a call will be taken accordingly,” he stated.

Earlier, the Director General of Uttarakhand Police, Ashok Kumar, spoke to India Today and said that Rishabh Pant’s car met with an accident at around 5:30 AM on his way to Roorkee. The incident happened in Mohammedpur Jat, near Roorkee as well. However, Rishabh Pant said that he dozed off while driving, causing the car to collide with the divider and catch fire as well. He was taken to the Roorkee hospital at first before being transferred to a Dehradun hospital as well. Notably, after the collision, Pant’s Mercedes caught fire and he had to break the windscreen of the car to get out as well.
