Upon his return to the national side for the ODIs, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen comforting a fan after the latter could not control his emotions on meeting the Indian stalwart. Following the successful conclusion of the three T20Is, the Men in Blue will be hosting Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series scheduled to begin on January 10 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.

Ahead of the first ODI contest, Rohit Sharma was seen stopping by to meet and greet some fans present outside the stadium after the completion of the press conference. Among them was a young fan who was seen crying out upon seeing the skipper, and was in tears. What followed was Rohit walking up to the fan and trying to pacify him in an adorable manner.

“Rone ka kya baat hai, chota bachcha hai tu. Itne mote mote gaal hai tere (Why are you crying, you are just a little boy. You have such fat cheeks),” Rohit Sharma can be heard saying to the young fan present outside the stadium. India’s captain then proceeded to click a selfie with the fan before leaving.

While there has been an ongoing debate if Hardik Pandya should replace Rohit as T20I captain of the side, however, the latter claimed that he has no intentions of retiring from the T20 format just yet.

During the pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma said, “We have only six T20Is, three (against Sri Lanka) are over and we have three against New Zealand. So, we will look after those boys till we get to the IPL, and see what happens after that. But certainly, I have not decided to give up the format.”

After getting the better of the Islanders in the shortest format, Rohit Sharma and his men will be looking to maintain the momentum, keeping in mind the 2023 ODI World Cup on the horizon. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli, who did not feature in the T20Is will make their comeback in the 50-over series against the Lankan Lions.
